I am a senior citizen who has lived through many of the country’s ups and downs. I was born at the end of WWII but learned about how our leaders brought the country together to support the war effort by gathering tin cans for bullets and victory gardens etc. I grew up in the 50’s which some think are the great years but not so great for woman or minorities. In the sixties I joined protests for equality marching in Chicago with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I saw the towers go down. I could go on but you get my drift.
My concern is where have all the leaders gone? Where are the Roosevelts, the Martin Luther King Jrs, the Kennedys, the Churchills, the Obamas and all the leaders who knew how to pull the country together to face whatever issues we faced?
Right now I see chaos. I see a dysfunctional government led by dysfunctional people who have no idea what they are doing. Leaders who spew out edicts without measuring their impact. Leaders who refuse to listen to experts or even common sense. Our country is in chaos; we are on a wild merry go round that won’t stop. People are frightened, worried, and searching for answers, answers that aren’t coming. So, of course, they do not comply to solutions that are offered because those solutions changing daily and contradict the previous solution. People are creating their own theories. They are listening to the wrong people because those people are offering alternative solutions that are touted as miracles. They want a way out of this mess.
We need leaders who have a definite path, a definite solution, a plan. We need leaders who will support the people, who understand their fears and acknowledged their fears. We need leaders who will pull this nation toward a common goal. We do not need leaders who pit people against each other.
Where have all the leaders gone?
