When will so-called luminaries of American politics like Republican Senator Lindsey Graham ever quit talking to the American people like we’re a bunch of blithering idiots?
Lindsey Graham, speaking on CNN’s “State of the Nation” yesterday morning bashed Meghan McCain’s motives in her eulogy of her father by saying, "If you say something bad about her dad, you will know it, whether you're the janitor or the President of the United States. She is grieving for the father she adored. I think most Americans understand that."
Does the honorable Senator Graham think Americans are so stupid we’d believe that Meghan McCain would have used her eulogy to get ‘even’ for the way Trump disrespected her father and for having made incredibly stupid comments like John McCain was “not a war hero. He’s a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured?”
Why else would Graham try to convince us that when Meghan McCain said that her “father wasn’t an opportunistic man of wealth who sat back while others make their sacrifices”, she wasn’t comparing the actions, motives, and values of John McCain, a distinguished war hero to the actions, motives, and values of Donald Trump, America’s best-known draft dodger?
Meghan McCain also said, “We gather here to mourn the passing of American greatness. The real thing, not cheap rhetoric from men who will never come near the sacrifice he gave so willingly, nor the opportunistic appropriation of those who lived lives of comfort and privilege.”
Was Graham trying to make us believe that Meghan McCain was not reminding America that during the years John McCain suffered repeated tortures at the hands of his captors in a Vietnamese prison, Donald Trump evaded military service so he could continue to live his life of luxury while avoiding STDs in secluded suites in and around the snazzy environs of Manhattan?
Isn’t it obvious that Lindsey Graham, who’s claimed for years to be one of John McCain’s closest friends, was accusing Meghan McCain of being as sleazy as Donald Trump?
